Exploring Body Image Wounds with Internal Family Systems
The Body Image Breakdown of Ep.59 of the Body Grievers® Club Podcast
You know you can think one thing in your head, but feel so differently in your heart? In my world, we call this the head to heart disconnect.
This is the conflict of two opposing thoughts.
For example, you can be a powerhouse in the boardroom, only to find yourself feeling anxious on the way home from work - wondering what they are thinking about you.
Or you spend all day dolling out unconditional love for others, but for whatever reason, there is a disconnect when it comes to yourself.
This is exactly why we had to bring Molly Bahr, trauma trained EMDR + IFS informed therapist on the podcast.
Molly is not only a powerhouse clinician, but she is also a dear friend to me. She came inside my Body Grievers® Community and did a training in my community called Healing Body Image Wounds with IFS and the feedback was so overwhelmingly positive that I had to turn a snippet of it into a podcast episode.
In this episode, Molly will use IFS to help me get unstuck with a body image wound: feeling discomfort around the new sensation of my larger stomach press against my legs.
If you are struggling with a similar wounding, check out the transcript of this episode to explore the IFS questions Molly asked throughout the session.
In the episode I mention:
Healing the Medical Narrative + Advocating for Yourself At the Doctors
